The Lewis Hohn Williams Leinster Senior Cup Final between North County and Clontarf takes place at Balrothery tomorrow,1st August, commencing at 11.00 a.m.
Last night Clontarf won the delayed semi- final against The Hills by 6 wickets with over 6 overs to spare. In the other semi-final North County defeated Pembroke by 39 runs in a game which was completed last Saturday.
Clontarf will be appearing in their seventh final in this decade and will, in fact, be bidding for a hat trick of cup final victories, having overcome Merrion in 2007 and to-morrow's opponents last year. Clontarf have won the Senior Cup on nine occasions in all.
North County have previously appeared in four Senior Finals. County's one Senior Cup Final win was in 2003 when they beat Clontarf in a game played at Malahide while they were defeated finalists in 2000, 2005 and 2008.
With so many talented cricketers on duty for both sides, including Irish Senior International squad members, tomorrow's final promises to be a keenly contested encounter. Let's hope the weather stays dry and may players and supporters of both sides enjoy what is always regarded as the highlight of the cricket calendar in Leinster.
There will be live coverage on NEARfm,90.3fm. The first broadcast will be from Balrothery at 10.30 a.m. The broadcast can also be heard on the web at www.nearfm.ie.
