The Dublin Grass Machinery 45 Over League final which was postponed due to the weather on Saturday last will now take place on Sunday next 14th June in Park Avenue at 12.00. It's an all southside final as Railway Union take on Leinster in what promises to be an intriguing encounter.
Both clubs topped their respective groups and subsequently each had comfortable victories in the semi-finals when Railway Union easily overcame YMCA by
114 runs while Leinster were winners by 132 runs over Pembroke.
Railway will, of course, miss the services of both Trent Johnston and Kevin O'Brien who are on duty for Ireland in the World Twenty/20 Cup Tournament. However, the Sandymount side will look to Kenny Carroll, Tom Fisher and Conor Mullen to post good scores while Fisher, Mohommed Tariq and Nanan have all being bowling impressively in this competition.
Leinster, who lost their cup game in Malahide last week-end, will hope to bounce back at the same venue on Saturday. All rounders Colin Braithwaite and Anton Scholtz have starred with both bat and ball this season and along with Mark Jones (a century scorer last Saturday) and J.P.O'Dwyer, the Rathmines club have players who can perform on the big stage. Leinster also have Ireland Under Age left arm spinner George Dockrell in their ranks and he will, no doubt, play an important role in the game.
An exciting final is in prospect. Play will commence at 12 noon. The adjudication of the Man of the Match will take place at the conclusion of the match.
