CSNI AWARDED MAJOR DEVELOPMENT GRANT

Local cricket club, Civil Service North of Ireland Cricket Club, has been awarded a major development grant from Belfast City Council. This will enable CSNI to move forward with their youth development program and help in setting up a cricket academy at Stormont, for young players like Niall Hodgins & Christopher McMorran pictured.

George Burton of CSNI said "We are extremely grateful to B.C.C. for providing this grant which we can use to provide equipment and top class coaching.  It is of utmost importance for us to invest in our already successful youth development program."

George added, "Last summer we donated twelve Kwik cricket sets to local schools and held a very successful tournament.  We will continue to encourage all local schools to participate in this competition regardless of gender, religious persuasion or ethnicity.  Individuals will also be encouraged to take part in our regular coaching sessions which cover all age groups from under 11s."

One of the clubs members who has benefited from the quality coaching at CSN is Sarah Rountree.

Sarah, right middle, has herself recently qualified as a UUCC level 1 coach becoming one of very few females in Northern Ireland to have achieved this qualification.  Sarah is currently involved with the Irish development squad and training with the mens squad at Dundee University.

Meanwhile the club are trying to raise their own funds and anyone wishing to attend the CSN Quiz night at the Pavilion Stormont on 27th February 2009 should contact Neil Holmes on 07828500773.
