Greg Molins won the toss and decided to let his brother, Jason, have first use of a low, slow, tired Castle Avenue wicket.

Leinster had reached 27 off 10 overs when Greg put a couple of sweepers out, much to Jason's disgust!! Greg advised his brother that he would be happy to chase 200 and Jason responded by telling Greg that 'you obviously get your captaincy instincts from our mother'!

Leinster made steady progress with Anton Scholz (39) putting on 88 with Jason and then Ian O'Herlihy (34) helped add a further 83 before the Clontarf skipper produced a ripper to bowl his brother 'neck & crop' for a very well made 85 (7 4's). Jason showed commendable fortitude to leave gracefully as the celebratory 'high 5's' were enacted very close to his line of retreat from the wicket!

The Leinster middle order subsided gently and it took a rumbustious 22no from Will Lennon to get them to a final total of 245-8 off their 50 overs.

For Clontarf Rod Hokin (3-51) and Andy Poynter (2-46) were the main wicket takers.

The final overs of the Leinster innings had been played in light drizzle, unfortunately this got heavier during the tea interval, and despite waiting around for a couple of hours, no further play was possible.

 Both sides took 8 points from this 'no result'.
