The ground staff and all their helpers put in trojan work to ensure that there would be some form of cricket this weekend at Milverton for the The Hills v Clontarf encounter after the rain deluge on Friday.

The start was delayed by a half hour to allow the outfield to dry out even further. Clontarf won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat. After 15 overs were completed a tremendous spell of spin bowling by both Matt Dwyer and Albert Van der Merve saw Clontarf struggle to 88 for 5, with Dom Rigby making 55 of them.

A fifth wicket stand of 86 between Greg Molins and Andrew Poynter brought the Tarf total to 178 for 7 from their alloted 50 overs. Molins ending up with 50 and Poynter 32. Matt Dwyer back in action again with a skilful 3 for 21 off 10 overs.

The wicket appeared to dry out in the second half of the game as The Hills compiled an opening stand of 108 with relative ease when Paddy Byrne was dismissed for 46. The home side then lost Bray 55 and Baumgart in quick succession. But Barry Archer's quick fire 31 steadied the ship and saw The Hills home to victory by 7 wickets with 5 overs to spare. The pick of the Clontarf bowlers was Alex Cusack with 1 for 23 from 10 overs.
