Merrion had reached 27-1 off 7 overs when the inevitable rain caused a 2 1/2 hour stoppage. When play resumed the match had been reduced to a 24 over contest and Merrion struggled to up their run rate and finished on 112-3. Under D/L the adjusted target for North County became 119. Dom Joyce (45*), John Anderson (26) and Kade Beasley (17) were the main contributors for Merrion while Denver De La Cruz (1-12 off 5), John Mooney (1-26 off 5) and Richie Lawrence (1-23 off 5) were the wicket takers in a very disciplined bowling display by County.

In response County got to 25-1 off 7 overs and then lost 7 wickets for an additional 39 runs to find themselves 66-8 after 18 overs. This should have become 80-9 after 20 overs as Dwayne Harper was dropped behind on a regulation chance off Tinnish Patel's final delivery. Still, 29 were now required off the final 4 overs and Dwayne supported his captain John Mooney well before pulling a boundary off the penultimate delivery from John Anderson to give County an unlikely 2 wicket victory, this achieved without Andre Botha, Rheine Strydom and Adrian Murphy. An incresingly impressive John Mooney, having watched the carnage at the far end, finished on 37*, Dwayne Harper 20* and Conor Armstrong 19 were tha main run scorers for County although they were assisted by 2 sets of 5 wides in their run chase. Damian Poder turned the ball 'square' whilst taking 1-10 off 5 overs and Jeff Shortt bowled well for 2-31. Patel (1-20) and Petrie (1-21) also bowled good 5 over spells.

This result surely leaves North County firm favourites to win Section A and they also are in the finals of the Leinster Senior Cup next week and the All Ireland final the following week.
