Dunmurry cricket was born in 1942 when a local minister, the Rev J Mc Cleery and some friend's decided to revive cricket in the village. They formed a team which played their matches on a square cut on the Dunmurry R.F.C pitch. Well known names such as Russell, McCracken, Green and Mc Comb were the basis of the team. Dunmurry first played in the Belfast league and after winning the cup in 1947 decided to join the Northern Cricket Union.
After many years playing in the qualifying leagues the club joined the senior league in the early 60's. Up until then Frank Mc Comb (The Parky), whom the current ground is named after, was the man behind the club. The club purchased Ashley Park from the hockey club but played their matches at the Warren Field's until in the late 50's when the club moved to the newly refurbished Fullerton Park. In 1966 the club was able to move to Ashley Park but due to lack of fund's for maintenance this was short lived. In this period members would play back at Fullerton or travel to Mallusk playing fields. In 1988 thanks to Enterprise Ulster and hard work by Arif Shah the club built our current club house and prepared a square.
Dunmurry has had a fair share of success and in 1960 won the Minor Qualifying Cup but the club have won the Junior Cup on four occasions. The first Junior Cup win was in 1969, however the real success was in the late 70's when in 1977 and 78 the cup was won by Dunmurry. At this stage it is suggested that the clubs badge was first introduced. It is said that the three stars on the badge represent the three Junior cup wins and the arch represent's the bridge in Dunmurry village. The last success was to come in 1985 but in the league the clubs main aim is to return to section two and work for the future to the Premier League.
